Light a campfire and everyone is a storyteller ~ John Geddes

Well, hello, July!!! At GBR, we will take this kind of July anytime! While it may be a little cooler and a bit rainier, the dreaded humidity of a Gettysburg summer has been kept at bay. When the sun has been out, there has been a cooling breeze, making it perfect swimming, fishing and hiking weather. The cooler days have made for perfect campfire nights, and the glow from each individual site adds to the overall glow of the evening.

Campfires have always been a staple of camping. Not only to prepare meals or to provide a source of heat, but also a place for family and friends to gather.  At GBR we so excited to be upgrading our community campfire pit, to make it a more beautiful and welcoming place for members to warm by a blazing fire, and to tell stories, old and new.

The new firepit will also compliment all the amazing work our grounds crew has done. Trees and flowers adorn the campground like jewels on a crown. The finishing touches of the fire pit project will be done on July 22nd, and we invite our members to help make it happen! Come help lay pavers, sod, plant some plants, and enjoy lunch on us!

Also, our new snack window has been wildly popular, making it easier for poolside families to grab a cone or a burger, and extending hours after the store has closed on the weekends.

July is a crazy month in Activities! After all the festivity of the 4th, including a visit from President Abe Lincoln himself, we are also going on a ghost hunt during our Paranormal Weekend, going to Hollywood to meet Elvis and going back to WW2!
