Gettysburg Battlefield Resort, November 2021

Hello All,

RVs Still Having Fun!
There is a chill in the air as we welcome the Fall Season! As mentioned in my last newsletter, Fall is my favourite time of the season. One of the best parts about Fall here is the great sunny weather, the resort, and the battlefield are all breath-taking when leaves begin to change color and fall from trees. A fallen leaf is nothing more than a summer’s wave goodbye.

The weather is cool, but not cold enough to force people to go indoors yet, having a campfire compliment both the chill weather and idea of camping. Halloween is geared up at the time of writing this newsletter. The “Hollywood Haunted Theme” is really ‘out of script’, as many would agree, scary, yet fun, rolled up in a maze of course. From the Pumpkin Patch under the shelter, seeing the pumpkins being carved, to the site and golf cart decorating contests, including the best costume contest, where people and pets alike enter! And, of course, we are always excited to have kids ‘Trick or Treat’ here. Halloween is always entertaining, three weekends of fun filled activity for all! And before you know it, we will be gathering around a table carving the turkey. Here’s to hoping we get a wishbone this Thanksgiving and wishing all of you a great November!

Until next time around,

Happy Camping

Richard

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”

— William Arthur Ward

Signs of it are everywhere – the local farmer’s market display is full of pumpkins pumpkin-spiced lattes are back, and you can earn points toward a free turkey at the local grocery store. At the campground, hot chocolate is served with s’mores, and sweatshirts are again fashionable as we sit around the nightly campfire. After a summer full of activities every weekend, and all the awesome craziness of Halloween, November is a gentle tap on our shoulders reminding us to be grateful for so many things and for so many people.

Here at the campground, we are thankful for so many things this year: for wonderful leadership and amazing team members, for good weather, for collective good health & well-being, for the sound of children’s laughter at the playground, and for the scent of burgers on the grill. Most of all, we are grateful to our members. We are thankful for the opportunity to make your stay filled with joy, and a memory to hold onto for years to come. We are grateful for your generosity on display all year, supporting our local food drives, the Adams County SPCA, the Adams County Women’s Cancer Coalition, and the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society. We are thankful for all the members who have volunteered to help with all our activities this year, from judging at the County Fair, bringing in goods to sell at the monthly craft show, and of course, our amazing Halloween Committee and Member Build Team! This November we are, once again, hoping to show all of you just how grateful we are. We will be having our annual Harvest Fest Dinner on November 20th, which is our version of a GBR family Thanksgiving! We hope you will join us!!!
In the meantime, enjoy these cute pictures from our GBR Doggy Paddle!
Respectfully submitted,

Rachel
